Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar compliments coastguard for intercepting 'rogue vessel' avoiding 'possible danger'

The reconstitution of the former Planning Commission into the New Niti Aayog dominates the headlines of many news papers today. "Modi sarkar puts Bharat first with Plan Panel Heir" reports the Economic Times, while the Times of India adds "With Niti Aayog, States get a seat at Modi's Roundtable". However the Hindu notes"  It's aniti, durniti, says opposition".
The hike in petrol and excise duty, has been highlighted by the newspapers. "Petrol, Diesel excise duty up, will fuel highway expansion," reports the Hindustan times, while the Tribune notes, "Excise duty on petrol, diesel up, rates unchanged."
In a related story The Times of India notes "Jet fuel prices cut 12.5% but slash in airfares unlikely".
In a story headlined "RSS quietly dumps Ghar Wapsi pointsman", The Economic Times reports, that Rajeshwar Singh who steered the reconversion programme and also the Dharm Jagran campaign, has been shunted out after Modi expressed annoyance.
In its front page story, The Indian Express informs "Before he cleared land ordinance , President, asked government why the hurry - Ministers Jaitley, Gowda and Gadkari explained government view on December 31st."
In an interesting report, The Times of India informs, "Pakistan Supreme Court relies on Indian Supreme Court ruling in election cases. It's December 17 verdict cited four Indian judgements."
The Hindu reports "Government targets Climate Groups. Four more international NGO'S under scanner. Ministry of Home Affairs says it will not compromise on national interest."
The Economic Times informs that IIM's may get to award MBA degrees soon instead of diplomas.
And finally, according to the Times of India, the Delhi police is drawing up a plan to conduct DNA tests on people begging on the streets with children to find out if their kids are there own or have been abducted and trafficked.
