India coronavirus cases rise amid fears true figure much higher

The Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi's Nizamuddin area emerging as the single-biggest source of COVID-19 gets major focus on the front pages of newspapers today.

 "Tablighi meet turns Corona super spreader" headlines the Mail Today. The Indian Express writes "Across nation, race to trace contacts of Tabligh meeting". The paper adds 'Alarm bells ring in 20 states and UTs, 50 test positive in a single day in Tamil Nadu'.

The Hindu reports "Officials of Tablighi Jamaat charged with defying restrictions". The Tribune says "Foreigners who were at Jamaat to be blacklisted."

The ICMR playing down the signs of community transmission in India gets highlighted by several dailies. "As US deaths cross 3,400, ICMR compares: infection probablity is low in India" reports the Indian Express.

Quoting a government study, the Tribune reports that once 80 per cent of population wears masks, outbreak of Covid-19 can be "stopped immediately".
