"EVM failures ail by polls, as parties exchange barbs, EC firefights," writes The Mail Today.

The DNA reports, "Delhi Government's draft policy targets profiteering by private hospitals," while the Times of India says,  "Draft policy seeks to cap hospital profits."
The Mail Today carries a heart - wrenching story on the impact of rising temperatures, "Heat - hit birds fall from skies in Delhi," adding that birds, especially their fledglings, are literally falling from the skies as temperatures shoot up to over 40 degrees celcius in the capital.

The International Border simmering while people suffer is also covered by papers. " Lull on border, tension intact," writes the Statesman; The Hindu reports, "Top officials for Kashmir talks".
In an interesting story by the Times of India, Brazilian footballer "Ronaldinho to marry two women at the same time."The same paper also writes about one Alam Javed, who broke his fast to donate blood to an 8-year old Hindu boy suffering from Thalessemia. With Prince Harry marrying Meghan Markle, romantic pictures straight from the Royal couple's wedding also dominate the front pages of newspapers.
"Sealed with a kiss" headlines the Mail Today adding "Harry and Meghan wed at St. George's Chapel in Windsor in a modern, multicultural ceremony attended by the Clooneys, the Beckhams, Oprah and, of course Priyanka Chopra.

The Karnataka Assembly elections held yesterday dominate front page headlines. Most papers lead with exit poll results. While the Mail Today writes "Numbers show Siddharamiah beating anti-incumbency, putting Congress on top" the Pioneer reports "BJP has edge in Karanataka". Summing up the different exit poll results, the Times of India writes "Karnataka exit polls predict hung House, most show BJP in lead". Speculating on a post-poll alliance, the Asian Age says "JD-S may ally with BJP if given CM post". 
The conclusion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's two day visit to Nepal gets front page attention. The Hindu quotes Mr Modi as saying "We'll be sherpa to help Nepal climb to success". The Tribune reports that the Prime Minister of Nepal  K P Sharma Oli has assured Mr Modi that "Nepal won't allow its territory to be used against India".
Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's admission that Pakistani terrorists were involved in the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai is prominently noticed in the press. The Times of India writes "Ex-Pak PM admits Pakistani terrorists carried out 26/11". The Statesman caption reads "Sharif questions Pak policy to allow killing by non-state actors".
Most papers take note of the outbreak of communal clashes in Aurangabad in Maharashtra. The Tribune reports "2 dead in Aurangabad communal clashes ; 100 shops, 50 vehicles gutted; curfew clamped; internet suspended".
In the backdrop of the demand made by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti that the Centre declare a unilateral ceasefire from the holy month of Ramzan in mid May to the Amarnath Yatra in August, the Hindustan Times reports "One-sided truce will not do, says Army".
Highlighting an instance of speedy justice by a court in Indore in a rape and murder case, the DNA reports "23 days after he raped infant, man gets noose".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Nepal visit is covered with reports and photographs on the front pages of almost all the dailies this morning. "Neighbourhood first is Modi pitch in Nepal"says the Tribune adding "100 crore rupees for Janakpur, direct bus service to Ayodhya". "PM offers prayers at Nepal temple" is the caption above a photograph of PM Modi shaking hands with Nepal Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli at the 20th century Janaki temple in Janakpur Nepal. Mr. Modi performed a special 16 step worship ceremony, becoming the first Indian Premier to hold such a prayer at the temple.
On the Karnataka assembly polls the Indian Express writes "Polls today: EC defers voting in one seat, books Congress MLA". "EC puts off voting in RR Nagar to May 28" notes the Asian Age.
"Chidambaram kin booked for hiding investment info" writes the Pioneer adding "Karti, his mother and wife didn't disclose UK property worth 5.37 crore in IT returns.
"Parting shot Mumbai supercop kills himself to beat cancer" says Mail Today about Himanshu Roy, former ATS chief who probed IPL match-fixing, turns the gun on himself as disease spread from bone to brain.
At 42.8 degree centigrade Delhi saw the hottest day of the session on Friday, reports Hindustan Times.
And finally, Dabbawalas to mark royal wedding in a special way. Well! the Asian Age reports the famous dabbawalas in Mumbai will be celebrating the wedding of Prince Harry of the British Royal family and Hollywood actor Meghan Markle in a unique way. They will be distributing sweets to relatives of patients at the government run Tata Memorial Hospital, KEM hospital and Wadia Hospital in Mumbai on May 19th, the wedding day.

On the Cauvery issue the Hindu writes "Supreme Court pulls up Centre for not framing Cauvery scheme". The paper states that the court has adjourned the case to May 14th, after polling for Karnataka Assembly elections.
"IRCTC goes hi-tech to oversee kitchens" informs Business Line. The paper writes that Railways' catering unit to use CCTVs, Artificial Intelligence to monitor quality.
Referring to the water crisis in New Delhi, Times of India writes "90 per cent of city in critical zone as groundwater level dips. Could lead to severe water crisis, Supreme Court told."
"Bid to kill mosquitoes immolates 2 in ambulance" writes the Pioneer about the South Delhi incident adding "Sleeping staffers charred to death in blaze ignited by repellent coil".
On the stone-pelting incident in Kashmir valley that killed a Chennai tourist, the Hindu quoting the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti writes, "It's a blot on cultural values of Kashmir". The paper adds that the Chief Minister personally apologised to the family of the tourist.
And finally, DNA in an amazing story writes about a Coolie Sreenath K. who cleared the UPSC using WiFi service available at the Ernakulam RXR ailway Station using just his phone and ear-phones. That's an encouraging story.

"SC orders Day-to-Day hearing" writes the Times of India. "SC orders in-camera proceedings to protect witnesses" says the Hindu.
"North India on toes to weather the storm" headlines the Pioneer. The paper writes "Gale reaches Delhi, evening schools to remain closed today; Traffic Police issues advisory on outing plan, Metro may shut operations".
Reporting on the Karnataka Assembly polls, quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the DNA writes "Congress's charges are a plot to cover its failures". The Pioneer reports, "Manmohan slams Modi for dismantling Indian economy".
In another story, the Times of India quotes BSP chief Mayawati as saying "Alliance with SP is on for Lok Sabha Polls".
Several newspapers also take note of a Tamil Nadu tourist who died in a Srinagar hospital after he was hit by stone-pelters.
"Assam errupts over citizenship law change" headlines the Asian Age. The paper speculates that this move by BJP may have serious political repercussions in Assam.
And finally, Delhities can gear up for a moving cinematic experience! The Hindustan Times reports "Cinema on Wheels" - a set-up with inflatable roofs and walls will be premiered on Janpath in Delhi on May the 9th.  And finally, here comes some good news for couples who've lost all hopes of a child. Well, in an interesting biological advance reported in the Times of India, the scientists have for the first time created embryo-like structures in the lab from stem cells, without recourse to eggs or sperm.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tweets on his government's achievement of electrifying every village in the country are prominently noticed in the press. The Hindu writes "All villages electrified, says PM Modi". The Indian Express notes "17% rural households still off grid".
The Prime Minister's monthly radio address Mann Ki Baat is widely covered in the press. Some papers track a worrying story coming out of Madhya Pradesh. The Hindustan Times writes on its front page "SC,ST,OBC marked on chests of MP police recruits at exam".
