As Delhi recorded its coldest December temperature in the past 12 years at 3.7 degree celsius, its pollution levels breached the emergency mark once again. Former Delhi Congress Leader Sajjan Kumar moving the Supreme Court against the life imprisonment awarded to him by the Delhi High Court in a 1984 anti-shikh riots case, is covered in many papers. The Tribune reports that the move comes a day after the Delhi High Court rejected his plea for extension of time till January 30 to surrender.

The DNA reports, the Opposition was united in terming the order a threat to democracy, the Centre responded by saying that the surveillance order dosen't confer any new power on the Government.
Another big story in most papers is the CBI Court acquitting all accused, in the alleged Sohrabuddin Shaikh Fake Encounter Case. The Asian Age headline reads. "All 22 accused in Sohrabuddin case acquitted". CBI judge cites lack of evidence.
"Vacate Herald House in two weeks - Associated Journals Limited told," is a headline in The Hindu. The paper reports that in a setback to the Congress the Delhi High Court, yesterday, directed Associated Journals Limited  to vacate the Herald House in the capital, within two weeks.
"High Court rejects Sajjan Kumars' plea for more time to surrender" reports The Asian Age. A bench of justices S Muralidharan and Vinod Goel had, earlier, sentenced him to life imprisonment in a 1984 anti sikh riots case.
The DNA writes "Rajasthan farmers unlikely to see loan waiver soon". The Ashok Gehlot government may have scored brownie points for delivering its promise of waiving loans of farmers, but there is no Time Line yet, on the distribution of Waiver Certificates to farmers reports the paper.
