The National Investigation Agency or NIA taking custody of Arif Majeed who returned home to India after having joined the militant organisation Islamic State or IS gets wide attention. "IS sent off Mumbai man, paid him 2000 dollars; NIA smells a conspiracy" reports the Hindustan Times.
All the papers take note of the daring daylight robbery in which two motorcycle borne men stole 1.5 crore rupees from a cash van parked next to an ATM kiosk in north Delhi. "Robbers kill guard of cash van, loot 1.5 crore in Delhi" writes the Tribune. The Hindu reports "Police probing insider role in cash van robbery".

In some worrying news, the Hindustan Times cites a CAG report tabled in Parliament to say that 253 new species of wildlife have been added to the list of endangered species.

Bombay student-turned Islamic State militant, Areeb Majeed, who was flown home under NIA escort from Istanbul yesterday morning, receives prominence in today's Press. He is being questioned by counter-terror investigation agencies.

The CBI director removed from the 2G spectrum case find prominent place in all the papers. "CBI chief off 2G probe for 'bid to scuttle it' is the lead in The Times of India. "Keep off  2G cases, supreme court tells CBI chief" reports the Hindu adding that Ranjit Sinha 'Attempted  to save' accused.
"Rampal behind bars, far away from his luxury pad" informs the Hindustan Times while the Tribune starts " High Court cancels Rampal's bail, sends him to Jail".
The mysterious death of two Manipuris in South Delhi also finds mention by most papers. 'Manipuri man killed, another found dead' reports the Hindustan Times.
The NDA government has decided to amend the clause concerning the leader of the opposition in the CVC act of 2003 to facilitate the appointment of Lokpal CVC and CBI director. The  phrase leader of opposition will be changed to leader of the largest party in the opposition reports the Pioneer.

    The Hindu reports of hundreds of eminent citizens including Amartiya sen and Economist Jagdish Bhagwati getting together to protest against death penalty as punishment.

PM Narendra Modi's visit to Varanasi in UP has found mention on the main pages of most prominent newspapers. Hindustan Times says Mr. Modi brought cheer to eastern Uttar Pradesh’s weavers by announcing a huge financial aid to boost the textile industry, while outlining his broader vision of achieving equal development for the whole country.

Papers are abuzz with speculations about the forth-coming reshuffle-cum-expansion in the Narendra Modi govt. Hindustan Times reports that agricultural Scientists have questioned the credibility of a new study which states that India's wheat production has fallen by 50 per cent since 2010 because of a rise in air pollution.
