"Plastic disappears from shops on Day 1 of Maharashtra ban" reports The Tribune. Though most reports suggest that penalties have been put off till Monday, DNA reports "Maharashtra plastic ban, Rs 7.27 lacs were collected in fines on day 1".
In its lead story, The Indian Express quotes the BJP President Amit Shah, as saying in a rally at Jammu yesterday "Mehbooba govt discriminated against Jammu and Ladakh regions".
In a story headlined "Clock ticks for paperless Indians", The Hindu reports that the US crackdown on illegal immigrants is set to hurt around five lakh undocumented Indians in the United States.
The Pioneer headline reads "Envoy barred from Pak Gurudwara, India lodges strong protest". The paper writes that, the Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan and other consular officials were not allowed to visit Gurdwara Panja Sahib and meet Indian pilgrims despite having the necessary travel permission.
