A LOOK AT TODAY'S NEWSPAPERS HEADLINES:
Many leading dailies have a picture of Prime Minister Modi at Dusshera celebrations in Delhi. 'Past and present' is how The Indian Express captions the photograph as it includes former PM Manmohan Singh too.
The Pioneer shows the immersion of Goddess Durga on Vijay Dashami. However, The Hindu reports of four incidents of drowning in Delhi.
The passing away of Tom Alter is prominently covered by the press. THE Hindustan Times page one plus features his best films while the obituary in The Pioneer is titled 'As Indian as it gets'.
Following the tragedy at Elphinstone Road station in Mumbai and Railway Minister Piyush Goyal's marathon meeting yesterday, The Hindustan Times says, 'Goyal promises to cut red tape for safety'. The DNA says, 'Goyal orders audit of 223 Foot- over bridges in Mumbai'.
The Tribune gives prominence to the appointment of new governors of 5 states.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's ideas for economic policies and models for development find place  in many dailies. 'Constitutional Amendments must for Jammu and Kashmir' says The Statesman, quoting him.
In what seems to be a positive turn of events, The DNA writes, 'India, China turn over a new leaf' while The Times of India says, 'Post Doklam, China seeks to better ties.'
The Times of India writes on its front page  on 'Footpath to football history - Under 17 boys pin hopes on World Cup'. The paper says that most players come from an extremely humble background. 'Football hub Goa has no player in squad' informs the Mail Today.
The Times of India reports of a rare feat by a 100 per cent visually impaired 15 year old girl, who rode on a tandem with her father from Manali to the Khardung la pass in Jammu and Kashmir. Kudos to the spirited girl!
