Twitter Turns Five! See The First Tweet Ever: "Spring is in the air, and you know what that means: it's time to celebrate Twitter's birthday.
Monday marks the fifth anniversary of the first tweet, sent on March 21, 2006 by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey. (Back then, the service was called 'Twttr.')
Dorsey and a handful of people that made up Twitter's small team had been busy brainstorming and programming for eight days before the platform was ready for its first non-automated message, which read 'Inviting coworkers,' according to Dorsey."
