The Pioneer > Of science metaphysics

The Pioneer :: Home : >> Of science metaphysics: "It is no mere coincidence that I could read Michael Polanyi’s The Tacit Dimension immediately after coming to terms with Peter Brook’s The Secret Dimension —included in a book called The Inner Journey: Views from the Gurdjieff Work. Polanyi’s mind-shift from science to metaphysics had been occasioned by Soviet ideology: “The scientific outlook appeared to have produced a mechanical conception of man and history in which there was no place for science itself. This conception denied any intrinsic power to thought and thus denied also any grounds for claiming freedom of thought... scepticism and utopianism had thus fused into a new fanaticism.”"
