NEWSPAPERS HEADLINES:

The Gujarat Assembly amending the law to make cow slaughter punishable with life imprisonment is one of the top stories covered by the dailies this morning. "Gujarat assembly passes bill that awards life term for cow slaughter"writes Hindustan Times adding  "Amendments to the state's animal protection law say vehicles used in such crimes will be taken away permanently."
On ban on liquor shops The Indian Express headlines "Supreme Court confirms: Alcohol ban on highways will include bars, restaurants, hotels. Cuts buffer zone to 220 meters in areas with population less than 20,000."
"GST Council clears bulk of rules for new tax regime" informs The Economic Times.
"Government cuts small savings interest rate by 0.1%" notes The Statesman. Writing on the host of tax measures and changes that will kick in from April the 1st with the passage of Finance Bill, The Tribune writes "New ITR forms, cap on cash deals.Can't receive over rupees 2 lakh in cash; return on small savings cut by 0.1% ; Aadhar must for tax returns."
In another story The Tribune writes " Reserve Bank Of India closes window for old notes. NRI's can exchange scrapped Rs 1000, Rs 500 till June 30".
Referring to the alleged disproportionate assets case against Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and his wife The Hindu states "CBI files charge sheet against Virbhadra. Agency acted hours after Delhi High Court dismissed his plea to quash case against him".The Asian Age quotes the Supreme Court as saying "Won't mediate in Ayodhya tangle." The paper also mentions that the Supreme Court rejects early hearing and questions Swamy's plea.
And finally, Now , there is a 'crystal ball' that can predict heart disease and diabetes. Well, The Times of India reports that scientists in the US  have developed an internet crystal ball- a metabolic calculator that can predict a patient's risk of developing heart disease and diabetes more accurately than traditional methods.
