The other major story is of Prime Minister Narendra Modi pitching for greater economic and security cooperation with Sri Lanka during his visit there. Hindustan Times writes - Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered Colombo 'First Claim' to India's growing economic muscle and signed a slew of business pacts aimed at undercutting China's considerable influence over the strategically-positioned island.

On the J&K political scenario The Indian Express reports - 'with relations strained between the PDP and its ally BJP after the release of separatist leader Masarat Alam, the PDP plans to reinforce its commitment to the alliance by elevating two BJP Ministers of State with Independent Charge to cabinet rank allocating more portfolios to Sajjad Lone and giving additional prominence to deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh.
