Prime Minister Narendra Modi paying a surprise visit to Siachen to celebrate diwali with soldiers, posted at the world's highest battlefield, is covered by The Hindu e-paper.

The Hindu also speaks of the Prime Minister announcing a package of Rs. 745 crore for the reconstruction of flood-ravaged houses and hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Indian Express reports that after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Teachers' Day address' followed by the Swachh Bharat campaign, educational institutes now have to prepare for another "top priority" occasion. The University Grants Commissions has shot off a letter to vice-chancellors of all universities, asking them to organize events on October 31' to celebrate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth anniversary.
