Center mulls making rear seat belts a must

    Rural Development Minster Gopinath Munde's cremation at Parali in Maharashtra is widely noticed on the front pages. "Thousands at Parali as Munde is cremated" reports the Asian Age. As a fall out of Mr Munde's death after a car accident in Delhi the Tribune writes "Center mulls making rear seat belts a must". On Mr Munde's replacement the Indian Express states "Gadkari gets charge of Munde ministries".
    The remarks made by Samajwadi Party leaders on the issue of rising incidents of sexual violence against women in UP are highlighted in all the papers. Drawing attention to Mulayam Singh Yadav's remarks, the Pioneer writes "Spurt in crimes against women: MSY slams media ; Tells reporters to do their own work; Ram Gopal blames TV for promoting vulgarity".
    Highlighting a protest by women activists in Kochi in Kerala over the rape bid on a UP judge in her Aligarh home, the Times of India has published a picture of these activists without their clothes, just draped in a piece of cloth.
    Congress leader Shashi Tharoor's praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi is highlighted in many papers. The Times of India quotes him as saying "Modi 2.0 different from figure we demonised".                                                                                  
    The death of a 24 year old Muslim technology professional in an attack by a right wing outfit in Pune and suspected Garo National Liberation Army militants blowing up the head of a Garo woman in Meghalaya as she resisted a rape attempt are the other stories prominently noticed in the press.
    In a special story, the Indian Express reports in what could signal impending change in the higher echelons of the intelligence establishment, the NDA government has decided not to renew the contract of Raghu Raman, the CEO of the National Intelligence Grid or NATGRID.
    And,The Times of India and the Hindustan Times report that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will have a bilateral meeting with US President Barack Obama in Washington in September.
