BJP slams Congress on Telangana, but will support statehood bill

With the term of 15th Lok Sabha soon coming to an end, political alignments and realignments are fast becoming the favorite subject of many papers. Hindustan Times informs us that the AIADMK and CPI have announced their decision to enter into an alliance. The Statesman wonders if yesterdays Mamata - Manmohan Singh meeting could be about a post-poll arrangement, and the Asian Age asks- "Will Jaya be 3rd front's Prime Ministerial choice?".
News papers are rife with the looming threat to Delhi's AAP govt. The Statesman says- 'Delhi legislators Vinod Kumar Binny and Shoaib Iqbal have threatened to withdraw support to the 1-month-old govt if it did not agree to their demands.
The Indian Express reports that Chief Justice of India P. Sathasivam has nominated his senior colleague Justice H.L Dattu to the Lokpal Selection Committee. With this nomination, both Chief Justice Sathasivam and Justice R.M. Lodha will be eligible to become Lokpal.
According to the Indian Express, Congress president Sonia Gandhi has written to the father of  North East student Nido Tanian, who recently became victim of a hate crime in Delhi. She wrote, Your son's death is a blot on society and the guilty will be punished.
The Pioneer and the Times of India have Union Agriculture Minister and NCP Chief Sharad Pawar saying that there should not be any discussion on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's role in the 2002 riots since he has been given a clean chit by the court.
That the Centre is set to hike Dearness Allowance by 10 % to 100 % in March, is a Statesman headline. About 50 lakh employees and 30 lakh pensioners will benefit by this increase.
Quoting Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh  Hindustan Times confirms that a notification for a hike in pay for people working under MGNREGA, will be placed before Parliament during the coming session.
