World’s richest 500 lose $444 billion after hellish week for markets

News related to violence in North-East Delhi a few days ago and the tanking of the sensex are the main headlines in the dailies today.

“Mobilisation, stockpiling ahead of riot caught police by surprise” headlines Hindustan Times.  The Pioneer reports that 12 thousand distress calls were made and 144 properties were gutted during the violence.

The headline in The Economic Times uses a pun to refer to the sensex tanking 1,448 points - “Markets can’t mask their fears”.  Financial Express calls it Corona Crash, while the headline in The Times of India reads, “Coronage:  Sensex suffers its 2nd biggest 1-day loss ever.

A front page story in The Statesman reveals that 600 plus Kargil pilgrims and 300 Kerala fishermen are stuck in virus-hit Iran.

Another report in Hindustan Times says that Coronavirus cases have now been found in Netherlands, Nigeria and Iceland.

Related to the Coronavirus, a front page story in The Pioneer reports that the fate of Olympic Games in Japan looks uncertain.

And finally, Financial Express, on its front page shows a photograph of a lioness with a leopard cub she had adopted, in Gir National Park.
