HD Kumaraswamy Back, Deve Gowda Heads Karnataka Crisis Meeting

AN OVERVIEW OF TODAY'S NEWSPAPERS HEADLINES:-


Most of the newspapers have focussed their attention on the political crisis in Karnataka and Prime Minister Modi's deion of those criticising the budget as "professional pessimists". The Asian Age headline reads "JDS-Cong govt on shaky ground as 12 MLAs quit".  Sunday Times of India says that 5-6 more MLAs are likely to resign on Monday, leading to the fall of the JDS-Cong government.

"Professional pessimists": PM on $5 trillion critics" is the Asian Age headline. The paper quotes the PM as reiterating that he was confident that India will definitely achieve a GDP of $5 trillion in the next five years.

Hindustan Times quotes Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh as saying that "Congress needs young blood to replace Rahul".

The "Govt may raise $10 billion via first sovereign bond overseas", reveals a Financial Express headline.

The Hindu reports that "Soon, docs to prescribe only generics". A possible amendment to extant laws is aimed at ensuring that doctors dispense only generic medicines, says the paper.

Pioneer reports that the 292 year old walled city of Jaipur is now a UNESCO World Heritage site.
