NEWSPAPERS HEADLINES

Most newspapers today have taken note of the Central Statistics Office's estimates projecting India's GDP growth at 6.5% in 2017-18. "GDP growth may hit 4-year low of 6.5%" headlines the Times of India. "Agriculture, manufacturing sectors hardest hit" notes the Hindustan Times.
Writing on the same subject, the Economic Times observes "Slowest GDP growth in 4 years not a big worry, as investment growth rate at almost twice of last year's, indicates sentiment picking up". The paper further writes, "Markets continue to scale new highs in the New Year".
Another top headline in the newspapers is that of the USA freezing one billion dollar in military aid to Pakistan. "Trump administration suspends one billion dollars in security aid to Pakistan, kept India in loop over move" headlines the Indian Express.
"Winter done, Budget Session from Jan 29" notes the Hindustan Times. "Union Budget on Feb 1, no clarity on Triple Talaq Bill as session ends" writes the Tribune.
In a break with tradition, "President, Vice President may soon have to put up number plates" is a story highlighted by the Hindustan Times. The paper also highlights "Republic Day preparation set to ground IGI flights".
The Tribune quoting a Delhi High Court ruling writes "Territorial Army can have women". The ruling came on a PIL alleging discrimination against women in recruitment in the Territorial Army.
And finally, the Times of India, in a case of a rare medical feat, reports "97 pellets removed from a man's chest, 4 years after he was shot".
