Most newspapers have given top slot to reports of the launch of the bullet train project in Ahmedabad. The Hindustan Times headline reads "Modi, Abe flag off bullet train project, ink 15 pacts". Financial Express says " India takes bullet train to the future". The Indian Express refers to Modi and Abe's discussion on Doklam in its story headlined "China in mind, India and Japan agree to deepen strategic ties".
"In 'Jai' Ho mode, Modi and Abe plan Asia-Africa link to counter China" reports The Times of India.
Another story noticed prominently on most front pages is the killing of the main accused in the recent Amarnath Yatra attack. "LeT man who plotted hit on Amarnath yatris killed", writes The Hindu. Mail Today reveals that "Mobile trail led troops to Yatra killer".
Business Standard reports that the recent rise in metal prices in the international market could erode India Inc's margins. The paper writes metal prices have increased by around 22 percent on average during the current year, pushing up manufacturing costs for Indian companies.
The Hindu Business Line lead story headline says "Poll year bounty? After rich harvest, Gujarat farmers get crop-loss claims". The paper adds that insurance industry sources have alleged that the State government data showing a big drop in crop output are not true.
DNA warns that "Your 10-yr-old diesel vehicle is now scrap", after the NGT's refusal to lift its ban on them in Delhi NCR.
"CBSE orders psychometric test of all school employees", highlighted by several dailies. The Tribune adds that the new security guidelines issued by the CBSE puts the onus on school management for the safety of students.
