Revanth Reddy Tears into BRS: "Uncle-Nephew Duo Partied While Nalgonda Suffered"

Revanth Reddy Tears into BRS: "Uncle-Nephew Duo Partied While Nalgonda Suffered"

In a blistering campaign speech ahead of the upcoming municipal elections, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy launched an all-out offensive against the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), accusing the previous regime of moral bankruptcy, privacy violations, and deliberate negligence of the Nalgonda district.

Addressing a public gathering in Gudur (Miryalaguda mandal), the Chief Minister urged voters to reject the BRS across the 7 corporations and 116 municipalities going to polls, framing the election as a choice between Congress’s welfare record and BRS’s "atrocious" legacy.

"KCR is Father of Your Clan, Not the Nation"

Reddy reserved his sharpest barbs for the BRS's projection of K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) as the "Telangana Jathi Pitha" (Father of the Nation). Referring to BRS claims that a legal notice to KCR is an insult to the state itself, Reddy dismissed the equation entirely.

"He may be the father to your race or clan, but what do the people have to do with it?" Reddy questioned. He asserted that the true "Father of the Nation" for Telangana is Professor Jayashankar, who sacrificed everything for the cause. He further added that Sonia Gandhi, who granted statehood, deserves the title of "Telangana Thalli."

Phone Tapping: "Wicked and Atrocious"

The Chief Minister did not hold back on the phone tapping scandal, characterizing the previous government's actions as a gross invasion of privacy. He described the surveillance of private conversations between husbands and wives as "wicked behavior."

"They didn't spare anyone—judges, opposition leaders, or even film stars," Reddy alleged. "And now, when caught committing these heinous crimes, they try to hide behind the police."

The Betrayal of Nalgonda

Turning to local grievances, Reddy accused the "Uncle and Nephew" (KCR and KTR) of shelving the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) project out of animosity toward Nalgonda.

"While the Uncle and Nephew partied, the project was sidelined," he charged, pointing out that eight workers had died during SLBC works. He accused the BRS of forcing Nalgonda residents to drink "poisonous water" for a decade and questioned their moral right to seek votes in the district. He pledged that the Congress government would complete the SLBC project within two years.

Welfare vs. Farmhouses

Contrasting Congress's governance with the BRS era, Reddy listed his administration's key deliverables:

  • Fine Rice: 6 kgs of 'Sanna Biyyam' distributed to 3.17 crore people.

  • Agriculture: A record ₹1.10 lakh crore spent on farmers, with ₹9,000 crore distributed under Rythu Bharosa.

  • Housing: A target of 4.5 lakh houses per constituency in the upcoming April budget.

He concluded with a direct challenge to BRS leaders KTR and Harish Rao: "If you truly care about the poor, will you distribute your farmhouses in Erravelli and Janwada to the public? Will you return the thousands of crores looted from the unemployed?"
