Generative AI vs Discriminative AI

Generative AI creates new data (like images or text), while Discriminative AI classifies or predicts a label for existing data (like identifying a cat in a photo).

A Foundation Model in generative AI is a very large model (trained on a massive amount of broad, unlabelled data at scale) that can be adapted (or "fine-tuned") to perform a wide range of diverse tasks, acting as the bedrock for many subsequent generative AI applications.

***

A prompt in generative AI is the input (typically a text command, phrase, or piece of code) that a user gives to a generative model to instruct it on what new content to create, whether that content is text, images, code, or music.
