The national outrage over the Kathua and Unnao rape cases dominate newspapers with hard-hitting headlines.
"PM speaks up, calls Unnao, Kathua a 'national shame" is the Asian Age headline. The Indian Express leads with "Justice for daughters, says PM; exit for 2 J&K BJP ministers who backed accused".
The Hindustan Times writes "BJP MLA Sengar arrested over Unnao rape, Grilled by CBI". "MLA arrested, High Court says law and order machinery under his influence" reports the Indian Express. "CBI arrests rape -accused BJP MLA as court tears into UP government and police", states the Times of India.
"Supreme Court notice on bid by Kathua lawyers to block police" notes the Indian Express. "SC raps J&K Bar for obstructing legal process, serves summons", states the Pioneer. The Hindu observes, a proxy candidate allegedly appeared for Kathua gangrape accused Vishal Jangotra, who had claimed he was writing his B.SC Part-I exam at a centre in Muzaffarnagar at the time of the incident.
