Newspapers Headlines

BJP releasing its manifesto, Air Force giving proof of striking down Pakistan's F-16 and UK court rejecting Mallya's plea against extradition are some of the stories dominating the papers today.

"BJP manifesto focusses on security, Article 370," writes the Hindustan Times while The Asian Age headlines, "BJP woos farmers, traders; pledges muscular nationalism; firm on NRC," adding, "Manifesto tagline 'Sankalpit Bharat, Sashakt Bharat', eyes five trillion dollar economy by 2025".

The Pioneer says, "Sashakt Bharat, BJP's Sankalp," while the same paper also gives space to Congress' reaction in its headline, "Jhansa patra, mocks Congress."

The Times of India quotes the Supreme Court in its headline, "Count VVPAT slips of 5 booths in each assembly seat."

After a US report that stated that no Pakistani F-16 was struck down by Indian Air Force, the IAF presents proof for doing so. The Tribune writes, " 'Credible proof' of downing F-16, says IAF," adding, "Backs its claim with radar images," while The Hindu reports, "Indian Air Force presents 'proof' to show F-16 was shot down."

A UK High Court rejecting Mallya's plea against his extradition is also widely noticed across dailies. The Indian Express writes, "Mallya loses moves closer to extradition,".

At 17.3 per cent, pre-poll currency growth sees one of the highest jumps in recent times.  The Economic Times headlines, "In Poll Season, Phir Ek Baar, Cash Hai Sarkaar."

While population of 18 to 19 age group has swelled since 2014, current electoral rolls show a sharp drop in first-time voters.  The Mail Today writes, "Capital's first time voters may miss poll bus."
