In its lead story, DNA quotes the Finance minister as saying that the Budget is a popular budget, not a populist one. The finance minister also said that it was a challenging budget as they were faced with a growth slowdown and only 11 months' revenues, adds the paper.
"11700 SC/ST staff in Maharashtra government face sack", writes the Times of India. These employees had either not submitted their SC/ST certificate or submitted fake certificates. Some of them who were hired as clerks have risen to deputy secretary levels after over 20 years of service, adds the paper.
