NEWSPAPERS HEADLINES:
· Prime Minister Narendra Modi wanting to take the war on blackmoney to the 'next level' is highlighted in today's Press. "Modi seeks Sabka Saath in achieving Digi-Pay Target", is the headline in The Economic Times. The Prime Minister has exhorted his fellow citizen to use less cash to embrace digital transactions, so that the full year target of 2,500 crore transactions could be reached in half that time.
· The Times of India informs us that Debit Cards have conclusively displaced Credit Cards as the primary mode of payment in the country following demonitization, jumping from 42% of the total card-spend to 60% after the November 8 demonitization drive.
· DNA reports - In what could be the single largest cash deposit in Tamil Nadu after demonitization, and individual in Namakkal district has deposited Rs 246 Crore in old currency - in an Indian Overseas Bank branch under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana - the PMGKY.
· Hindustan Times tells us that the 12-digit Aadhar number has helped states strike off 4.4 lakh "ghost students" from schools - across Jharkhand, Manipur and Andhra Pradesh.
