Stories related to Rio Olympics continue to figure on the front pages of most dailies. The Times of India shows a picture of Lalita Babar, the 27 year old long distance runner from Maharashtra, 1st Indian woman in Olympic track final since P.T Usha in 1984. Another picture is that of Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna who are one win away from a mixed doubles tennis bronze medal.
"For India in NSG, China to send main negotiator; Sushma brings up Azhar, Sino-Pak corridor; FS-level mechanism raised" reads a caption in the Indian Express. The Times of India reports that India brought up Beijing's attempts to block its bid for membership of the Nuclear Suppliers Group and opposition to UN sanctions on Jaish chief Masood Azhar as foreign minister Sushma Swaraj met her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.
Hinduatan Times writes that noting how most Indian parents discourage their children from participating in sports, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan have issued directions aimed at providing “academic compensation to students inclined towards sporting activities while also prescribing extra classes for students preparing for sports tournaments.

The Times of India reports that commemorations to mark the legendary Carnatic vocalist's birth centenary also include a photo exhibition at the UN, which will go on till Thursday.
