Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement on the Kashmir problem makes for front page news in most of the major dailies this morning."PM's K-dialogue:Yes, dialogue is key "headlines the Tribune adding, "gives 'no compromise' stance a rest,exhorts opposition to work together for solution to unrest." "J&K opposition rings alarm bell, PM calls for talks, and outreach" is the banner headline in the Indian Express.
Referring to the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award the Hindustan Times writes "India's olympic stars get highest sporting honour".The paper writes "Sindhu, Sakshi, Dipa and Jitu feted".
Most of the newspapers carry pictures of the closing ceremony in the Maracana stadium at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. "Goodbye Rio, over to Tokyo 2020" is the caption above the photograph of artists performing during the closing ceremony, in the Asian Age.
Olympic Silver medalist P.V. Sindhu, her coach Pullela Gopichand, and Gymnast Dipa Karmakar being given a heroic welcome is covered with reports and photographs in most of the dailies.
On the Jigisha Ghosh murder case The Times of India writes "Death for two of Jigisha's killers, life term for third". The paper also quotes the trial court as saying "Brutal murder rarest of rare crime".
And finally, Soon, you won't be able to kill time at the Taj Mahal. Well, the Hindustan Times reports that spending endless hours at the Taj Mahal would no longer be possible. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), which maintains the world-heritage site, has proposed to restrict the visiting hours inside the complex.
