The government's assault on women's lives is shocking | Yvette Cooper | Comment is free | The Guardian: "All my life I've taken for granted that each generation of women would have more opportunities and greater equality than the last. Now I fear that in Britain, that is under threat. The scale of the government's assault on women's lives is shocking. But this is not just an accidental consequence of over-rapid deficit reduction. For both Tories and Liberal Democrats it reflects a deeper ideological view about the role of the state, the role of the family – and, as a consequence, the role of women, too. We have to challenge the underlying philosophy if we are to restore progress."
