DNA reports that the results of 10 Assembly seats in 8 States have bought jubilation for the BJP, a breather for the Congress and humiliation for the Aam Aadmi Party. Filling the vacancies in Legislatures and Parliament was necessitated to complete the Electoral College for the Presidential Poll with  Pranab Mukherjee's term ending on July 25.
 "US drops 'Mother of all Bombs' on Islamic State cave in Afghanistan", headlines The Times of India. The US military on Thursday dropped the largest non-nuclear bomb ever deployed in combat, targeting an ISIS complex in Afghanistan, in order to maintain the momentum of the US offensive against ISIS-Khorasan.
 The Asian Age reports - India is placing its 14th request to Pakistan for consular access to former Indian Naval officer Kulbhushan Jadhav through the Indian High Commission in Islamabad-  according to government sources in New Delhi. "The Economic Times writes that the Government has asked the Indian Mission in Pakistan to exhaust all legal options available to save him.

The paper reports that Minister of State for Home, Kiren Rijiju made a statement in the Rajya Sabha that though there are provisions in the Constitution to ensure cow protection, this should not give freedom to an individual to take the law into his hands. We have issued a stern warning to all the States, he said.
