NEWSPAPERS HEADLINES:
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) tightening the noose around shell firms that allegedly facilitated black money transactions and laundering of demonetized currency, receives prominence in the Press. "Yogi orders inquiry into Akhilesh's key projects", is the top headline in DNA. After taking control of the bureaucracy, UP Chief Minister Adityanath Yogi has now trained his guns on his political adversaries. Not only has Adityanath reviewed projects of the previous regime, he has also ordered an inquiry into four dream projects of the Akhilesh Yadav government.
The top headline in the Sunday Express reads - "5-fold increase in drunk-driving fine, jail up to 10 years for causing death". Changes to the Motor Vehicles Act, that were approved by the Cabinet on Friday, show that appropriate action has been sought from the Ministry of Home Affairs to make such drivers responsible for culpable homicide, under section 299 of the Indian Penal Code.
"Mulayam hits out at Akhilesh, says son insulted him for five years" - headlines Hindustan Times. Mulayam's comment is the latest episode in a bitter public spat after  Akhilesh staged a virtual coup against his father, before the polls.
On the EVM row in Madhya Pradesh the Asian Age writes "Election Commission shifts 19 Madhya Pradesh officials. Poll panel to send high level team after reports of pro-BJP machine." "E-voting machine defaults to BJP, opposition wants probe" leads Hindustan Times.
The Times of India informs us that affordable hospital chain promoter, Dr. Devi Shetty has entered the Delhi market, with his group - the Narayan Hrudayalaya -  tying up with Dharamshila hospital in east Delhi.
And finally, the Sunday Express reports that exactly a week ago AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal announced that his party planned to abolish Residential House Tax if voted to power to municipal corporations in Delhi later this month. But a deeper look into records suggests that those who stand to benefit most from the waiver of property tax will be owners of properties in upscale colonies.
