The Mail Today adds "Jayanthi drops corporate bomb on Rahul".
    In related stories, the Pioneer reports "Party heaps scorn on stalwart-Congress now claims she was sacked from cabinet on corruption charges". The Asian Age reports that the NDA government has indicated that it would take a fresh look at environmental clearences for projects granted or rejected by the previous UPA government.

    In an exclusive the Hindu reports former Union Environment Minister, Jayanthi Natarajan disclosing that she honored Rahul Gandhi's requests on environmental clearances to reject big ticket projects.

    "No more Laxman Rekha" writes the Times of India, in a tribute item to R K Laxman, the man who made millions smile with his delightful irreverence and wonderful balance between satire, caricature and lampooning.
    The Hindu reports that even as women officers made history by leading contingents of the 3 services at the 66th Republic Day Parade, an appeal filed by the government against giving permanent commission to them in the Army lies pending and half forgotten in the Supreme Court.
    Foreign Media reactions to President Obama's visit have been highlighted by the Hindustan Times - "Pak Media lavishes attention on visit" "UK Media hails 'royal welcome' Obama got"  writes the paper.
    "Obama gives thumbs up to BSF stuntman" is another story in the paper, referring to the President's appreciation for their Republic Day performance at the parade.
    The Asian Age writes that lauding the RBI's role in helping bring down inflation, Chief Economic Adviser Arvind Subramanian has said that the Central Bank may further ease  interest rates.
    In uplifting news for Foreign Investment in India, the Hindu reports that more and more Japanese firms prefer India for future expansion than China, as the latter is becoming less attractive as an investment destination.

    The breakthrough in the stalled Indo-US civil nuclear deal as talks between President Obama and Prime Minister Narendra Modi got underway gets top billing in the papers today. "Modi and Barack find the Nuclear key" writes the Hindustan Times.
    In an interesting sidelight, the Hindustan Times writes "PM is a style icon, I'd like to wear a Modi kurta, says Obama at dinner".
    The Times of India carries a picture of Wing Commander Pooja Thakur leading President Obama for the inspection of the Guard of Honour at the Rashtrapati Bhawan under the caption "IAF officer marches into history".
    President Pranab Mukherjee's address to the nation on the eve of Republic day is widely noticed. The Indian Express quotes him as saying "Ordinances breach people's trust". The Times of India quotes the President as saying "Functioning legislature prerequisite for governance".
    The Padma awards are prominently noticed in the press with most papers carrying pictures of actors Amitabh Bachchan and Dilip Kumar and senior BJP leader L K Advani who have been awarded the Padma Vibhushan.
    The Statesman and the Hindustan Times highlight the Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee's plans to set up its own 'censor board' to vet films and books on religion.
    The killing of a Japanese captive by IS militants is widely noticed on the interantional pages. "Japan outraged, asks ISIS to free second hostage".
    And finally...on the question of is there or isnt there life on Mars, the Mail Today writes of images taken by a NASA investigation camera which show a human-shaped shadow of what appears to be a male figure looming over the Mars Curiosity Rover. "Sadly No wah Taj ! Moment " is the splash story in the Pioneer today. " Obama misses the Taj again " is the banner headline in the Hindustan Times. The subhead reads "Itinerary compacted, Saudi king's death prompts change in plan". "Obama cancels Agra for Riyadh" is the lead in the Asian Age.
The bottom fold of the Asian Age quotes, the Peoples Democratic Party as saying "Track II talks with BJP on for government in J&K". While the Hindu in a news story quotes Mufti Mohammed Sayeed as saying " we may differ in vision, but an attempt is being made to find common ground".
The Times of India on its front page reports that a day after the Padma Awards were to be officially announced, yoga guru Ramdev and spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar politely declined to receive the honours. The Indian Express too carries this story on its front page.
The Pioneer in its bottom spread carries an interesting story about the city's oldest electorate. The paper says that Delhi has 474 voters aged 100 years and above. There are 226 women and 248 men in this list. Among the 100 plus year old voters 10 are 120 years and above. They are all registered in the voters list.
The Delhi special of The Asian Age writes that "Kejriwal is upset over no Republic -Day parade invite". The paper also quotes Union Minister Harsh Vardhan as saying "no rules flouted". While The Hindustan Times in a box item says,"2014 Republic Day parade pooper Kejriwal not on 2015 list".
"Farmers get e-Kisaan tablets" writes the Hindu to educate, engage and empower them. Karnataka Chief Minister distributed the tablets in Benguluru.
The Times of India carries a story that a group of class 10 students in Chennai showed great courage and stopped the marriage of their classmate, a 15 year old girl, to a man more than twice her age.
And finally, forget the critics the box office receipts and the Oscars. Well the Times of India writes that what really makes a film into a masterpiece is how many passing references it generates in subsequent films made by other directors, scientists have discovered.

The much anticipated 'Obama Visit' is splashed over front pages, with President  Obama slamming 'terror safe havens ' in Pakistan ahead of his India trip. "Obama shoots from the hip on terror havens" writes The Pioneer.
Front pages are also splashed with analysis and discussions on the  anticipated deals and agreements between India and the US.  "Domestic politics may  stall key Modi-Obama deals", headlines the Hindu, such as the nuclear logjam - due to opposition in the Rajya Sabha, while Obama is having trouble committing on climate change funding, because of Republication control of the House.
Hindustan Times reports that the Centre may act against some of the 188 NGO's red-flagged by the Intelligence Bureau - for alleged misuse of foreign funds, suspected extremist links and proselytization.
After month-long negotaition, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the BJP have reportedly stitched up an alliance and are all set to form the Government in Jammu and Kashmir, reports the Tribune.  An official announcement would come after a meeting between Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and PM Narendra Modi, sometime in the first week of February.
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar sparked off a controvercy after he alleged that some former Prime Minister's had 'compromised' the country's deep assets, sparking off a row. "Congress seeks apology" writes The Indian Express.
Hindustan Times informs us that Delhi's residents and industries may have to contribute to a 4,000 crore rupee project to revive the Yamuna in 30 months, by building cleaning up centres and restoring rain water drains - by way of property and house taxes, including a Yamuna cess.
Booking a table at your favorite restaurant in Maurya Hotel in Delhi will not be possible for the next few days, on account of President Barack Obama's stay, and all reservations have been closed since Friday 4pm. The Hotel will reopen for the public after 7 pm on January 27.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited questions till the 25th  of January using # Ask Obama-Modi. AIR covers 92 per cent of geographical area through 414 broadcasting centers - says the report.

    Ahead of the budget 2015-16, the Finance Minister Mr. Arun Jaitley has indicated that there may be more fuel subsidy reforms on the anvil to cut center's fiscal deficit, says the Business Standard.

    "Sanitary mates" - SM's will now be an important component of Swachh Bharat mission says a Pioneer report. These SM's will be handpicked by gram panchayats from women MNREGA workers & their job will be to identify households without toilets.

    'All Titans on board for poll' is the banner headline of the Pioneer. The sub head says 'BJP, AAP, Congress heavy weight file nomination papers". The Asian Age on its front page carries photograph of beaming Kiran Bedi and Arvind Kejriwal after they filed their nomination papers from Krishna Nagar and Jamnagar, respectively.
    The top bottom fold of the Hindu carries a report about protests continuing at Delhi BJP office by angry party workers unhappy at the way tickets were distributed for the upcoming Delhi assembly polls. The lead headline in the Asian Age says "Rajnath tries to douse BJP row in Delhi".
    'Muslim population grows 24 percent but slower than last decade' is the lead story in the Times of India. The paper reports that their share is up from 13.4 percent to 14.2 percent of the total population.
    The banner headline of the Indian Express says 'India, US meet to break deadlock on Nuclear liability'. The sidebar quotes President Obama as saying 'Will hunt terrorists from Pakistan to Paris'.
    'Market swings force re-think on disinvestment' is the lead headline in the Hindu. The paper adds that strike threat by PSU staff is another reason for going slow.
    Another story in the Times of India noticed prominently is that the city of Bangaluru came in 5th in the list of cities globally that received the most venture capital in 2014, an indication of the growing vibrancy of its start-up eco-system.
    The Asian Age and the Hindu reports that the first full year budget of the Modi government will be presented on Feb 28th and the budget session will begin on Feb 23rd.
    A box item in the Hindu says that the CBI have arrested three persons, one a close aid of former Telecom Minister Dayanidhi Maran in  connection with the telephone exchange case.
    And finally, 'Dog officers' have arrived in the city to secure turf for US President. The Times of India writes that one foot tall Belgian Malinois dogs are here to sanitize everything in a 100 meter vicinity of the President.

    Reporting on global inequity The Hindu, quoting an oxfam study writes that global wealth inequality has reached staggering proportions with 1 in 9 people not getting enough to eat and over a billion people living on less than 1.25 dollars a day. The paper adds that if this rate of wealth accumulation continues, the top 1 percent of the world population could end up earning more than the other 99 percent!

    The Financial Express reports that as lakhs of crores of rupees are earmaked annually towards central plan expenditure, NITI aayog will actively monitor and evaluate the implementation of government programs.

    The Times of India writes that after 23 years, India has a new numero uno when it comes to profitability.     Sunanda Pushkar's death continues to occupy front page space. "Police trying to frame me, Shashi told Bassi in November", says the Times of India. "Probe focus on injection wound on Sunanda arm" captions Hindustan Times.
    Under the headline, "Economics breaks the political ice: Mamata, Jaitley talk of cooperation", the Indian Express reports that the two shared the stage at Global Bengal Business Summit, displayed mutual respect and also promised cooperation for the state's development.
    Mail Today shows a picture of PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti under the caption, "Governor's rule looms over J&K" adding that PDP seems to be outwitted by acting CM Omar Abdullah as it fails to make any headway in forming a government.
