India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, was notified more than eight years after the Supreme Court recognized privacy as a fundamental right in the landmark 2017 Justice K.S. Puttaswamy v. Union of India judgment, highlighting the gap between technological advancement and regulatory response in the country.
