Isis threatens to attack India in new video
NEWSPAPERS HEADLINES:
After the assembly election results, the front pages of most papers track government formation in the states that went to polls. "Mamta to take oath on May 27, Vijayan Kerala CM" reports the Hindu. The impact of the results on the Congress party is also prominently noticed on the front pages. The Statesman writes "Rumblings in Congress after poll debacle : AICC snubs Digvijay call for surgical intervention".
All the papers highlight the Union Cabinet's decision to clear an ordinance deferring the Common Entrance Test for Medical Colleges or NEET in the backdrop of the Supreme Court ordering its implementation. The Pioneer reports "State boards out of NEET this year....but no relief for private medical colleges".
In a special front page story, the Indian Express focuses on a 22 minute Arabic language video in which purported Indian jihadists threaten war on the country. The headline reads "Coming to avenge Babri, Kashmir, Gujarat, Muzzafarnagar : ISIS video".
The Hindustan Times cites the latest Census data of 2011 to report that the average size of the Indian family has dropped 5.3 % from the previous decade and the sharpest decline of 11% was noticed in Muslim households headed by men.
And finally...it may sound unbelievable but its true...the Pioneer informs us of a unique warning given by Delhi's auto drivers to the government. The paper says "Dont you dare hike fare! Auto drivers warn government : Fear of compeition from cheaper e-cabs triggers unprecedented demand".
