Centre to bring Telangana bill during resumed Winter session of Parliament beginning tomorrow: PM


NEWSPAPER HEADLINES

The Aam Admi Party or AAP's latest political offensive against the BJP and the Congress is prominently noticed on the front pages. "AAP's latest: BJP trying to bribe our men, topple govt" reports the Indian Express.  The Tribune writes "AAP asks Prez to act against Shiela over illegal colonies".
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's address at the inauguration of the 101st session of the Indian Science Congress in Jammu is widely noticed. The Hindustan Times reports him as saying "Shouldn't yield to unscientific biases against GM crops". The Tribune observes " Manmohan wants 2% of GDP for R&D in science".
The spat between the Congress and the BJP over the Rs.10.80 a day Below the Poverty Line or BPL figure set by the Gujarat government is keenly noticed in the press. "Gujarat, Centre spar over Rs 11/day poverty line" writes the Times of India. The Pioneer reports the BJP as saying "State only following criteria set out by the Centre".
Prices of food and fuel in the capital Delhi are keenly scrutinized in the press today. Highlighting the ongoing vegetable wholesale traders strike, the Pioneer reports "Vegetables get costly as traders strike continues". The Times of India lead says "One way road: CNG price to drop 15 Rupees, not auto,taxi fares".
The recommendations of the High Level Committee on the Status of Women in India are reported in the Hindu. The paper writes "Panel recommends 50% quota for women in decision making bodies.
And finally the Pioneer informs that the Arachaeological Survey of India has discovered an ancient mint city at Majra in Haryana's Rohtak city. The paper says that the site saw minting of coins from the 7th to the 10th centuries.
