Mahatma Gandhi headed society of onion-eaters in South Africa - The Times of India: "Though he didn't like to be a part of any club or organization, Mahatma Gandhi once formed a unique club, 'Amalgamated Society of Onion-Eaters', with four of his friends. Gandhi was president of this club and his friend Henry Polak was treasurer. The club was formed in Johannesburg when Gandhi and his friends were busy with various diet experiments."
