"Eyebrows go up as Bukhari invites Sharif, snubs Modi" on the anointment of ceremony  of the naib imam, headlines the Times of India. While the Statesman writes 'Shahi Imam invites Sharif not Modi".
"Sangh honchos want revamp in education system, 'headlines the Mail today. The paper wirtes that senior leaders  of the RSS met HRD minister Smriti Irani on Thursday. Ramdev seeks new national school board.
In Some good news on inflation front, the economic times reports that diesel may fall 11% in two weeks, onion has dropped to Rs. 20 a kilo, Tomato is also down to Rs. 20 a kilo, cooking oil is cheaper, and the outlook for the vegetable prices is encouraging.

    Black money stashed away in foreign banks by Indians and efforts to form a government in Delhi are the stories that figure on the front pages of most prominent dailies this morning.

Under the caption, "SC gets black money list, names to remain secret" Hindustan Times writes that the government submitted a list of 627 Indians holding accounts in HSBC Bank, Geneva, to the Supreme Court, which directed its special investigating team (SIT) to examine them and take appropriate action.
    "Jung to consult parties on government formation" is a caption in The Hindu while The Asian Age headlines it as "Najeeb to talk with all, BJP yet to take a call".
    The Times of India reports that India has slipped two places to stand 142nd out of 189 countries ranked by the World Bank for `ease of doing business', underscoring the tough task that lies ahead of the Narendra Modi government which has said it wants to make India a business-friendly country .
    After opposing the Congress tooth and nail in two consecutive Lok Sabha elections, Prakash Karat-led CPI(M) opened up its options for ‘cooperation’ with Sonia Gandhi’s party, reports Hindustan Times, adding that the latest development comes in the wake of the BJP’s stupendous run.
    In a move that will not only save precious lives but also encourage people to help accident victims, the Supreme Court has asked the government to issue an order within three months to insulate from legal and procedural hassles those who come to the aid of road-accident victims, writes Hindustan Times.

"Suspense over, Fadnavis will be Maharashtra Chief Minister," headlines Hindustan Times with other papers also highlighting this stroy.  The Asian Age writes, he was unanimously elected  leader of the BJP Legislative Party, clearing the way for him to become Chief Minister. The Indian Express reports that even as the BJP elected Devender Fadanvis as its Legislature Party leader, it kept its formal ally, the Shiv Sena waiting. Sources said the BJP's central leadership wants Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackrey to apologise for his earlier remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party chief Amit Shah. The swearing-in-ceremony is to be held on October the 31st and the Governor has allowed 15 days after that to prove majority in the State Assembly.
Several papers also cover the ongoing 'Black Money Hunt' issue. The Times of India reports that the Supreme Court, yesterday, put the Government in a tight spot by demanding the names of all Indians holding foreign bank accounts by Wednesday and passing on whatever information has been received from foreign countries to the Apex Court.
Virtually daring the Chinese Dragon, India signed a pact with Vietnam yesterday  to participate in two more oil exploration blocks in "Vietnamese waters", in the South China Sea, taking the total number to 5 blocks. The Times of India reports that China has opposed Hanoi's move to invite India for oil exploration and has warned India against "meddling" in the dispute with Vietnam over Island in the South China Sea.
The Hindu writes that a group of 69 NRI investors have moved the Supreme Court of Mauritius seeking a 103 million dollars in damages from the ICICI group, for the real estate Dynamic India Fund,that had under performed.
"Dramatic bank heist brings PMO to Sonipat ", reports The Indain Express on its front page. A day after robbers cleaned out 89 lockers at the Gohana branch of the Punjab National Bank, the Prime Minister's office dispatched one of its top Intelligence officers to inspect the site where the robbers had dug a 7ft high, 125 long tunnel.

"Sena will back any BJP nominee", states the Tribune. While the Pioneer says "Sena willing to play second fiddle "and adds that Sena will back BJP's CM pick, and NCP will abstain from house during confidence vote.
'Trilokpuri tense, 3 shops burnt' reports the Hindu. The Times of India writes about how a group of 15 'eunuchs hold off Trilokpuri goons'. The Statesman says that "virtual curfew prevails in Trilokpuri".
When Shiela Dixit met Narendra Modi, the Indian Express quotes her as saying she saw ' a confident man with a vision' and 'a new language'.
 "Centre, state together on Burdwan probe: NSA', writes the Hindu, while the Hindustan Times quotes National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval telling Mamata Banerjee that ' terror spread beyond Burdwan'. The paper also writes that NSA in Bengal also hands over list of 180 Bangla militants hiding in Bengal, tells Mamta Jalpaiguri emerging as a terror hub."
The Tribune carries a story of how thieves in a daring Hollywood thriller style dug up a 120 feet tunnel and cleaned out 89 bank lockers in Sonepat's Gohana area.
The Asian age writes that 12,000 more men are to be inducted to the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) to counter aggressive transgressions by the Chinese army along the LAC.

'BJP plays hard ball with sena' writes the Hindustan Times. The paper says that unrelenting BJP likely to go ahead with minority government instead of giving sena big share in cabinet berths.
'Ministry of Defence (MoD) clears defence needs worth Rs 80k crore' is the Asian Age  headline. The paper writes that 'acquisitions to include six submarines, Israelies anti tank guided missiles, 12 Dornier aircraft and 362 infantary combat vehicles;. The Statesman reports that 'Rs, 80000 crore defence projects cleared;.
'Modi's Swach start with the media' reports the Times of India while the Hindu headlines 'Modi lauds media role in Swach Bharat campaign, says journalists have turned their "pens into brooms".
In a special story the Hindustan Times reports that the Narendra Modi government has asked ministries to fix deadlines and detailed timelines of all projects and proposal, right down to the tentative dates for receiving cabinet approvals for each scheme.

The front pages of most newspapers have highlighted the news about the increased pollution post Diwali. A Hindustan Times headline reads, "Spike in pollution sends elderly, kids to hospital", while under the caption, "Air quality in Delhi deteriorates", The Asian Age writes that the air quality worsened significantly and noise pollution witnessed an upward trend following Diwali.
Mail Today reports under the headline, "PM Modi's crorepati cabinet" that of the 44 members in Modi's ministerial team, no less than 41 - or 91 percent are crorepatis.
India today scoffed at the proposed Million March being undertaken for Kashmir in London this Sunday asserting that a country of a billion plus cannot be “overawed” by numbers even as Home Minister Rajnath Singh emphasised Pakistan should stop firing on the border, says The Tribune.
Arun Jaitley has come under scathing attack from senior lawyer Ram Jethmalani who has alleged that the finance minister was not keen for the truth to emerge regarding the government's efforts to bring back black money stashed in foreign banks, says Mail Today. The Indian Express reports that about a fifth of the individuals or entities named in the so called HSBC list of alleged foreign account holders have acknowledged their ownership of the accounts. These  136 account holders have either paid or are in the process of paying,  penalties for concealing incomes.

"BJP hints it wont take NCP support", headlines the Asian Age writing that talks between Udhav Thackrey and Amit Shah are likely today.

"Under the headline Wary Swiss Banks Advise Some Indians to Cash out", The Economic Times says that with Switzerland and India ensuring a system for automatic information sharing on accountholders, Swiss banks are trying to steer clear of dodgy Indian clients.

The Business Standard writes that four months after it began a probe into the multi-crore Saradha chit-fund scam, the Special Crime Branch of the Central Bureau of Investigation first chargesheet in the case, yesterday.

And finally sounding out good news the Hindustan times writes "Big Bang reforms coming post Diwali " - all to boost investment, create jobs, make land acquisitions easy and raise FDI limits in insurance and pension sectors.

Meanwhile the Indian Express in its front-page story on developments in Maharashtra reports "Gadkari Flexes 29 MLA Muscle - Want him as Maharashtra CM, say MLAs as they fly to meet him in Nagpur Home".  The Times of India quotes Mr. Arun Jaitley as saying "We are in a Swayamvar situation and have to decide at an appropriate stage."
In a significant front-page story the Hindustan Times reveals "Government to tell Supreme Court names of Swiss Bank Account holders - to file affidavit next week, may submit list of 136 names in sealed cover".

In a related story the Economic Times reports "Plans linked to cancelled coal blocks may be sold off - President signs Ordinance on Path-breaking Reforms in Coal Sector even as Modi Government prepares to ease the process of land acquisition."
"PM to light up flood-hit J&K's Diwali" reports the Pioneer.  The Hindustan Times informs "Modi to spend Diwali in flood-hit Srinagar."
The Times of India reports "Dhan Teras ushers in record sales, spells 'Achha Din' for retailers" while the Economic Times adds "Gold Jewellery sales up 20 per cent on Dhan Teras."
The Times of India reports that from Monday, 27th October onwards you can drive down from Delhi to Mumbai and Mumbai to Delhi without stopping at any Toll Plaza.  All you need is a radio frequency identification tag on your vehicle.

In a special front page story, the Indian Express reports that the Prime Minister has told the Cabinet that the government would disclose the names of some names under probe for allegedly stashing black money abroad.
Hindi daily Navbharat Times informs us that the UGC has asked all universities to attach photographs of the students on their mark sheets. This is already being done by the Mumbai University.
The Times of India highlights the governments decision to digitize all of the 15000 subordinate courts in the country by the end of the year. This would help litigants access court proceedings and rulings online.

The BJP's historic Assembly win in Haryana - and it's emergence as the largest party in Maharashtra, is undeniably the lead story in today's papers. "Modi routs Congress in two states", is the top headline in The Asian Age. "Times of India reports "NCP offers BJP unconditional outside support". The Tribune tells us, that "In Haryana the  voter has sent the highest-ever 13 women - to the 13th Haryana Vidhan Sabha".
The Indian Express asks - "Is Delhi Next?" the paper writes, With the BJP claiming 47 out of 90 Assembly seats in Haryana and 122 out of 288 seats in Maharashtra, the party's Delhi unit is hoping to ride the wave to power in the National Capital as well.
Hindustan Times has a front page story on India's biggest tax reform initiative - The Goods and Services Tax (GST); this could see a staggered implementation starting with a nationwide unified tax system for Goods from April 2016, which will extend to Services later - thereby creating a common national market.
The Asian reports that among other second-generation economic reforms the Centre may soon consider unleashing are - the Direct Tax Code,  Insurance and Pension Bills, power tarrifs,  labour reforms and other decisions to make it easier to do business with India.
And finally, Times of India informs us that reading glasses may soon be a thing of the past - as 'corneal inlays' (in the form of a thin ring ) -implanted into the eye with a simple surgery, can correct vision without the need for corrective treatment, according to researchers in the United States.

The Election Commission's discussions with various stakeholders to finalise the dates for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections is widely noticed. "CEC hints at timely J&K poll, says it wont hit relief work" writes the Pioneer. The Indian Express highlights the Army Chief's comment "Dont let terrorists disrupt elections in Valley".
Most papers report about the steps announced by the government to check violence against people from the north-east in Gurgaon.The Hindustan Times says ," Centre announces special police, helpline in Gurgaon".

Two days after exit polls predicted that the BJP would become the largest party in Maharashtra, and with the assembly election results out Sunday, Pankaja Munde, the daughter of the man who was once the party's face in the state Gopinath Munde, has staked her claim for the Chief Minister's post, reports The Indian Express.
Shiv Sena on Friday hinted at a possible reconciliation with former ally BJP, saying there should be “no bitterness any more". An editorial in Sena mouthpiece Saamna said, “There is no need to have arguments or bitterness any more... Though it is difficult to mend broken hearts, Maharashtra needs stability and peace, reports The Times of India.
 Most newspapers have noticed the story of granting of bail by the Supreme Court to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha. Hindustan Times says the AIADMK chief is likely to walk out of jail today after the Supreme Court granted her bail in a corruption case and suspended her sentence for two months, sparking celebrations by supporters.
